DESALINATION OF SEA WATER

Taking The Salt out of Salt Water=Drinking Water

Instructions

Things You'll Need

  • Large pot

  • Aluminum foil NOTE ALUMINUM IS A POISON, TRY USING A HAND TOWEL:

  • Glass jar

  • Salt water

  • Stove

1.Pour the salt water into a large pot. Fill it up about one-fifth of the way.

2.Place the pot on the stove.

3.Place the glass jar in the center of the pot. Use a jar that is close to the

same height as the pot, but not any taller. The jar can be as wide as you wish, choose, just so long as it fits in the pot.

4.Cover the pot with aluminum foil. Make sure it is completely sealed

around the rim of the pot. Use more than one piece if it is necessary.

5.Gently press down in the center of the foil so it dips down. Do not

push so hard that it breaks the foil.

6.Turn the stove on high heat, and let the water boil. The water will

evaporate and rise up to the foil. As it gathers on the foil, it will turn

back into liquid water. The dip in the foil will make the water move

to the center and drip down into the glass jar.

7.Let it boil until the water stops bubbling. Turn the stove off and let

the pot cool down for at least five minutes before handling it.

8.Take the aluminum foil off of the pot and take the glass jar out.

The jar contains pure water, and the salt remains on the bottom of the pot.

SMALLER APPROACH TO ABOVE METHOD

Instructions

Things You'll Need

  • Pot with lid
  • Glass cup
    • 1

Place the glass cup in the center of the pot.

    • 2

Pour saltwater into the pot around the glass cup. Do not allow any to go inside the cup. Make sure that you do not fill it up too high or it could go into the cup when boiling.

    • 3

Place lid on the pot upside down.

    • 4

Boil the water. As the water vaporizes, it will condense on the lid, move toward the center and drip into the glass cup. Vaporized water is free of any substance, except pure water. This process can take up to 20 minutes. Allow time for the water to cool before attempting to drink it.
